What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are substances which are used to add volume and reshape various areas of the face. They are made from substances such as hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite, which are compatible with the body and are introduced under the skin through injection by very fine needles.
There is a commonly held misconception that this particular therapy only leads to the exaggerated results made famous by some celebrities, however this is far from the truth. This particular therapy was actually developed to produce the most natural, subtle looking results possible and therefore at our clinic YOU can tailor YOUR treatment depending on YOUR desired effect, whether that is the natural subtle look or the more pronounced, prominent and dazzling effect.
What Can Dermal Fillers be Used for?
Contrary to popular belief, fillers are NOT just used for lip augmentation (i.e. making the lips bigger and more defined). They can also be used for a wide variety of other purposes such as:
Cheek augmentation: this is where the fillers are injected over the cheek bones in order to give the face a more sculptured look.
Chin remodelling: here, fillers are used to achieve a variety of purposes such as changing the shape of the tip of the chin or smoothing out lines/dimples.
Nose Remodelling: fillers can be used to alter the appearance of the nose, through remodelling and re-sculpturing the bridge, the tip, the margins and the sides of the nose.
Naso-labial folds, deep creases and Marionette lines: these are sometimes referred to as the smile lines, and fillers can be used to make them either less prominent or in some cases completely invisible (depending on the desired effect and individual variations in facial anatomy).
